Actor Paid to Pose as Fake CEO Feels Deeply Sorry for Duped Investors
-
Stephen Harrison was paid to pose as HyperVerse CEO Steven Reece Lewis. He was given 180,000 Thai baht (about A$7,500) over 9 months and a free suit.
-
Harrison says he feels sorry for investors who lost money, stating "I do feel deeply sorry for these people." He says he did not pocket any investor money himself.
-
Harrison claims he did not know the fake credentials (degrees, work experience, etc.) created for "Steven Reece Lewis." He says he was told he was "acting a role" and trusted what he was told.
-
The contract to pose as Lewis came through an Indonesian talent agency Harrison believes may not exist. He never interacted with the actual HyperVerse team.
-
Harrison says he stopped requesting renewal of his contract in June 2022, which coincides with the Twitter account for "Steven Reece Lewis" going inactive.
