California Company Recalls Over 5,000 Ice Cream Bars Over Salmonella Concerns
-
A California company recalled over 5,000 packs of mini ice cream bars due to potential salmonella contamination in the mango flavor.
-
The recalled products were distributed in 16 states, Washington D.C., and some European locations. There have been no reported salmonella infections so far.
-
Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and severe illness or death in some cases. Over 1.3 million salmonella cases occur yearly in the U.S.
-
The company has stopped distribution of the products and launched an investigation. Consumers with the recalled ice cream bars should throw them out.
-
Food recalls happen when products may be contaminated, contain undisclosed allergens, or pose other health risks to consumers.
