Microsoft lifts Windows 11 upgrade block for devices with problematic Intel audio drivers
-
Microsoft has removed a 2-year-old upgrade block that prevented some Windows 10 users from upgrading to Windows 11 due to an Intel driver issue.
-
The issue caused BSOD crashes on devices with affected Intel SST Audio Controller drivers.
-
Users must update to Intel SST driver versions 10.29.00.5714 and 10.30.00.5714 through Windows Update.
-
Microsoft advises not using Update Now or Media Creation Tool to install Windows 11 until updating affected drivers.
-
If updated drivers are not developed for your hardware, contact device OEM to request relevant updates.
