India warned Indian Ocean region nations of dangers of 'hidden agendas' in projects or unsustainable debt, seemingly referring to China.

Jaishankar said it's important to maintain the Indian Ocean as a free, open and inclusive space based on UNCLOS.

He said countries should address development challenges and be aware of dangers in unviable projects or unsustainable debt.

Jaishankar highlighted India's commitment to IORA principles of peaceful coexistence, shared prosperity and regional collaboration.

He emphasized India's role as a first responder and net security provider in the Indian Ocean region, based on its Neighborhood First policy.
