Intel Greenlights Delidding of Core i9-14900KS for Select System Builders, Still Honors Warranty
-
Intel is allowing select PC manufacturers to officially delid the new Core i9-14900KS CPU to improve its cooling, while still covering it under warranty.
-
Delidding involves popping off the metal heatspreader on top of the CPU silicon to allow for direct contact with the cooler.
-
Overclocker der8auer confirms that some system integrators will be allowed to delid and still have Intel's warranty.
-
US PC maker Maingear is already listing delidded 14900KS models for sale with "increased performance & cooling."
-
Normal consumers can't delid their own 14900KS and still claim a warranty, but this shows an interesting move by Intel to back overclocking.
