Polkadot developers testing a process to improve network scalability and support 1,000 parachains by end of year.
Currently Polkadot supports up to 100 parachains. Async backing aims to enable 1,000 parachains.
Async backing is a significant evolution for parachain consensus since launch 2 years ago.
Will deploy async backing to Rococo testnet in a few weeks.
Roadmap shows ability to scale Polkadot to 1,000 parachains and 1m+ transactions per second.
