Japan Airlines Tests Clothing Rental Service to Cut Flight Emissions
-
Japan Airlines launched a trial service allowing travelers to rent clothes that are delivered to their hotel upon arrival and returned at the end of their stay.
-
The service, called Any Wear, Anywhere, aims to reduce emissions by cutting down on luggage weight on flights.
-
Travelers can choose clothing options based on gender, season, style, and number of pieces for prices ranging from $34-$48.
-
The clothes come from pre-owned stock or company overstock and are cleaned before being recycled back into the rental service.
-
The airline will calculate emissions reductions based on luggage weight savings after the trial ends in August 2024 to determine the sustainability impact.
