Japan's Inflation Eases Slightly in September but Remains High

Japan's overall consumer prices rose 3% in September, down slightly from 3.2% in August.

The increase is above the Bank of Japan's 2% target for consumer inflation.

Consumer inflation excluding fresh food and energy rose 4.2% in September, compared to 4.3% in August.

The data was released by the Japanese government on Friday.

The figures show continued high inflation in Japan, driven by energy costs.
