Kroger to Sell 26 Texas Stores to C&S for $1.9B If Albertsons Merger Approved
-
Kroger plans to sell 413 stores, including 26 in Texas, to C&S Wholesale Grocers if its merger with Albertsons is approved.
-
The 26 Texas stores are all Albertsons-owned locations under the Albertsons, Tom Thumb and Market Street banners.
-
C&S will pay Kroger $1.9 billion for the stores and will also acquire 8 distribution centers and 5 private label brands.
-
The sale ensures no stores will close due to the Kroger-Albertsons merger and union jobs will be protected.
-
Kroger may be required to divest up to 237 more stores to gain antitrust approval for the Albertsons acquisition.
