Khan rejects Kyiv mayor's plea for London's scrapped cars to aid Ukraine
-
London mayor Sadiq Khan rejected Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko's request for scrapped vehicles to be sent to Ukraine.
-
Klitschko had proposed that some vehicles being scrapped under London's Ulez scheme could instead be donated to Ukraine for "life-saving" uses.
-
Khan said the proposal does not meet legal requirements for the Ulez scrappage scheme to benefit Londoners.
-
Susan Hall, Conservative candidate for London mayor, criticized Khan's refusal and said Londoners should have the freedom to decide if their scrapped cars can support Ukraine.
-
Richard Lofthouse said Khan showed a "lack of political courage" in not allowing scrapped cars to be sent to Ukraine.
