Macy's to Open Dozens of Smaller Stores by 2025 to Compete with Rivals and Boost Efficiency

Macy's plans to open up to 30 small-format stores by fall 2025, following its recent announcement to open 4 new small stores.

The small stores range from 30,000 - 50,000 sq ft, about 1/5 the size of traditional Macy's stores.

The smaller stores will help Macy's compete with other retailers adding small-format locations, be more efficient to operate, and support long-term growth.

The small format stores have a curated selection of merchandise including Macy's private brands.

The expansion builds on nearly 15 existing Macy's and Bloomingdale's small-format stores, with more planned by end of 2023.
