Major U.S. Airlines Find Unapproved Engine Parts from Supplier in Aircraft

Major U.S. airlines found unapproved engine parts from supplier AOG Technics in some aircraft. Parts include seals and turbine blades.

The CFM56 jet engine model was most affected. Parts were found in engines belonging to Delta, United, Southwest, and American.

Delta said a "small number" of engines contained the unapproved parts. The parts were discovered during engine overhauls.

United found the unapproved parts in one engine on each of two aircraft. The airline is replacing the engines before returning the planes to service.

Southwest found unapproved parts in one engine out of its fleet of over 800. The airline promptly replaced the affected parts.
