Republicans Seek Retribution Against Rep. Gaetz After Speaker Vote Rebellion
-
Republicans are seeking retribution against Rep. Matt Gaetz after he led a rebellion against Kevin McCarthy for House Speaker. Some want Gaetz expelled from the House GOP conference or even Congress entirely.
-
Rep. Don Bacon said Gaetz "shouldn't be in the GOP" and former Speaker Newt Gingrich agreed Gaetz is "destroying the House GOP's ability to govern."
-
Some legislators suggested Gaetz and the others who voted against McCarthy should be kicked out of the GOP conference for disloyalty.
-
Sen. Markwayne Mullin claimed Gaetz would "brag about how he would crush E.D. medicine and chase it with energy drinks so he could go all night" before being married.
-
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene warned that expelling Gaetz "absolutely will not be tolerated by Republicans across the country." She had voted for McCarthy.
