Controversy over Hamas terrorist designation in purported parliamentary reply signed by Minister Lekhi
-
Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs, denies signing a parliamentary reply declaring Hamas a terrorist organization. The reply was circulated on social media.
-
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson clarified there seems to be a technical error and the reply should have reflected V Muraleedharan as the responding Minister of State.
-
Lekhi tweeted that she did not sign any paper with the Hamas question and answer, calling the information false.
-
Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi responded saying if Lekhi's denial is true, it suggests a serious breach and violation of parliamentary rules.
-
The purported parliamentary question was asked by Congress MP Kumbakudi Sudhakaran on whether India plans to declare Hamas a terrorist organization as demanded by Israel.
