Microsoft Closing Loophole that Allowed Windows 7/8 Keys to Activate Windows 10/11
-
Microsoft is closing the loophole that allowed old Windows 7 and 8 keys to activate Windows 10 and 11.
-
This loophole has existed since Windows 10 launched in 2015 as a free upgrade from Windows 7/8.
-
The free upgrade offer was supposed to expire after 1 year but continued working until now.
-
Windows 10 keys will still activate Windows 11 on eligible PCs.
-
This change is already live in Windows Canary builds, with general availability expected next year.
