Ford Recalls Over 238,000 Explorer SUVs for Rollaway Risk
-
Ford is recalling over 238,000 Ford Explorer SUVs from 2020-2022 due to a safety issue that could cause the vehicle to roll away.
-
The recall is to replace the rear axle bolt and bushing which could fracture and cause the driveshaft to disconnect, resulting in loss of power or vehicle rollaway.
-
This recall comes after NHTSA opened an inquiry into previous recalls that didn't fully resolve the issue.
-
Owners can check if their vehicle is affected using the NHTSA or USA TODAY recall databases. Ford will notify owners by letter starting November 6.
-
To fix the issue, dealers will replace the rear axle bolt and bushing and inspect the rear axle cover at no cost to owners.
