Liberal MP Calls for Trudeau Leadership Review, Then Backtracks After Backlash
-
Liberal MP Ken McDonald said in an interview that the Liberal party should have a leadership review of Justin Trudeau. He later backtracked, saying he wasn't calling for a review.
-
In the initial interview, McDonald said the Liberals' "best before date" had passed and the party needed change to seem new again.
-
McDonald said normally after going from a majority to a minority government twice, there should be a leadership review, which hasn't happened.
-
When asked if Trudeau was the right leader going forward, McDonald said it wasn't clear and he'd want to see who else put their name forward in a review.
-
After facing backlash, McDonald issued a statement saying he continues to support Trudeau and wasn't calling for a leadership review.
