Nintendo Focuses on Rich Animations for Super Mario Bros. Wonder to Align with Upcoming Mario Movie

Nintendo spent more on animations for Super Mario Bros. Wonder than usual, wanting players to experience something similar to the Mario movie.

Producer Takashi Tezuka said they poured more development costs into the game's animations than gameplay.

Tezuka said people coming from the Mario movie will see how Mario moves and expect a similar experience.

Even subtle things like how Mario runs and jumps were focused on, as well as expressive enemies.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder releases for Switch on October 20, 2023.
