Pakistan Receives $9.5 Billion in Foreign Aid So Far This Fiscal Year, Falling Short of Targets

Pakistan received $6.68 billion in foreign economic assistance in the first 8 months of the current fiscal year, about 38% of the annual target.

Total foreign inflows including IMF and UAE support amounted to $9.53 billion from July 2022 to February 2023.

Inflows were lower than expected due to poor credit rating and adverse global financial conditions.

The government has revised down the foreign assistance target for the full fiscal year to around $11 billion.

The bulk of inflows came from Saudi Arabia ($2.6 billion) and multilaterals like the World Bank ($1.375 billion).
