Americans' Well-Being Dips in 2023, Nears Lows of Great Recession and Pandemic Years
- Just over half (52.1%) of Americans were thriving in 2023, only slightly higher than during the Great Recession and first year of the pandemic
- The percentage of thriving Americans dipped from 2022 (52.8%) and 2021 (55%)
- The only years with lower thriving rates were 2008-2009 (50.2%) during the recession and 2020 (50.1%) during the first pandemic year
- The percentage classified as suffering was 4.7% in 2023, nearing the 2022 high of 4.8%
