Generac Recalls 64,000 Portable Generators Due to Fire and Burn Hazards
-
Generac recalled about 64,000 portable generators in the U.S. due to fire and burn risks from excess pressure buildup when opening the gas tanks.
-
The CPSC said at least 3 severe burn injuries have been reported from the issue, along with 24 other overheating/pressurization incidents.
-
The recalled models are the GP15000E and GP17500E portable generators sold from April 2011 to Summer 2022.
-
Generac is providing free repair kits to replace the rollover valves and improve vapor flow to prevent the pressure buildup.
-
Consumers should stop using the recalled generators until they install the repair kit, which may take 6-8 weeks to receive.
