US Postal Service Seeks to Raise Stamp Prices to 73 Cents, Citing Years of Underpriced Services
- The U.S. Postal Service is seeking to increase first-class stamp prices by 5 cents to 73 cents, a 7.8% increase overall
- This would be the 5th price hike in 3 years if approved
- Postmaster General says price hikes are overdue due to a "defective pricing model" over the past 10+ years
- In addition to stamp prices, increases are also being sought for services like money orders and certified mail
- Post office box rental fees would not increase under the proposal
