US Postal Service Seeks Second Stamp Price Hike of 2024 to $0.73 as Mail Struggles Continue
- The US Postal Service requested to raise the price of a first-class stamp from 68 cents to 73 cents, starting in July.
- This would be the second price hike in 2024. Stamp prices have jumped 36% over the last four years.
- The price increases also include raising postcard and international letter rates and unspecified fee hikes for certified mail and money orders.
- The Postmaster General previously warned customers to expect more "uncomfortable" rate hikes as USPS seeks to become self-sufficient.
- USPS reported a $6.5 billion net loss last year as first-class mail volume fell to the lowest since 1968.
