Think Twice Before Posting Kids' Photos Online
-
Sharing kids' photos online risks misuse by strangers or in fake/explicit images made with AI tools. Removing all traces is extremely difficult.
-
You can request image removal from Google, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc. But photos often persist on other sites.
-
Search kids' names online to find images. Reverse image search helps. Controversial face detection sites like Clearview AI and PimEyes can also identify images.
-
Going forward, only share kids' images privately, blur faces in public posts, limit school photo releases, and give tweens/teens control over their online presence.
-
Teach kids to make good decisions about posting themselves as they get older. Support their autonomy over their own reputation and privacy.
