Qatar Signs Deals to Supply LNG to Europe, Helping Reduce Dependence on Russian Gas

QatarEnergy and Shell signed two 27-year LNG supply agreements to provide 3.5 million metric tons per year to the Netherlands starting in 2026.

The LNG will come from Qatar's North Field expansion project in which Shell holds stakes.

This follows a similar 27-year deal between QatarEnergy and TotalEnergies last week.

Qatar is expanding its LNG production capacity to 126 million metric tons per year by 2027.

The agreements help Europe diversify away from Russian gas imports and improve energy security.
