Republican Sen. Joni Ernst choked during a GOP lunch and was given the Heimlich maneuver by Sen. Rand Paul, who is a doctor. Ernst is reportedly okay.

Ernst was hosting the lunch and serving foods from Iowa like pork chops and ribeyes when she began choking.

Other Republican senators did not witness the choking incident but heard about it afterwards. Some senators discussed getting Heimlich maneuver training.

Sen. Lindsey Graham quipped "God bless Rand Paul. I never thought I would say that."

Ernst made light of the situation on Twitter, tweeting she choked on "the woke policies Dems are forcing down our throats."
