Ex-Trump Supporter Ray Epps Pleads Guilty to Misdemeanor in Jan. 6 Capitol Riot, Denies Inciting Attack

Ray Epps, ex-Trump supporter, pleads guilty to misdemeanor for his role in Jan. 6 Capitol riot after being targeted by right-wing conspiracy theory.

Epps became focus of baseless claims he was a government agent inciting the attack, which led to death threats and him fleeing his Arizona home.

Epps says he went to DC to protest election he falsely believed was stolen, told others to protest peacefully, but denies entering Capitol.

After riot, Epps contacted FBI to provide info, has been cooperating with investigation since Jan 2021, and was interviewed by House Jan. 6 committee.

Over 1,100 defendants charged in Capitol riot so far; Epps pleads guilty as authorities continue prosecuting cases nearly 3 years later.
