Bankman-Fried Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison, Ordered to Repay $11 Billion for FTX Fraud

Sam Bankman-Fried delivered a 20-minute statement in court before being sentenced to 25 years in prison for stealing over $8 billion from FTX customers.

He claimed his "useful life is probably over" and he can no longer help people from prison.

He apologized for letting down employees and customers, calling his decisions "bad" but not selfish.

Judge Kaplan called Bankman-Fried unremorseful and said he committed fraud to gain political influence.

In addition to 25 years in prison, Bankman-Fried has to pay back $11 billion and forfeit assets to help repay customers.
