Walberg Draws Bipartisan Criticism for Inflammatory Hiroshima Comparison on Gaza
-
Republican Rep. Tim Walberg said during a town hall that Gaza "should be like Nagasaki and Hiroshima", referring to the atomic bombings by the U.S. in WWII.
-
Walberg made the remarks while opposing sending humanitarian aid to Gaza.
-
The comments were condemned, including by former Republican Rep. Justin Amash who called them "reprehensible and indefensible".
-
Walberg denied advocating for nuclear weapons, saying he used a "metaphor" and that his remarks were taken out of context.
-
He also said the same "get it over quick" approach should be taken in Ukraine to "wipe out Russian forces".
