Rite Aid filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is closing 154 stores across 15 states, with the most closures in PA (39), CA (32), and NY (20).

The company had already been closing stores before bankruptcy, shutting about 210 in the past year, leaving 2,100 stores.

Rite Aid appointed a new leadership team and is trying to resolve opioid crisis lawsuits and reduce debt.

The company faces competition from Walmart and Walgreens expanding their healthcare services.
