Questions Raised Over Journalist's Rajya Sabha Nomination Amid Abuse Allegations Against Her Party

Sagarika Ghose, wife of journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the TMC party in West Bengal. This raises questions about journalists compromising their integrity by accepting such nominations.

Sagarika Ghose's affidavit reveals that Rajdeep Sardesai earns crores every year, even during COVID, from his job at India Today group. He earned Rs 3.54 crores in 2023.

The affidavit shows Sagarika and Rajdeep own assets worth nearly Rs 75 crores, including a Rs 49 crore house. This is while media houses have been laying off lower level staff citing financial troubles.

The affidavit and TMC nomination come even as women in West Bengal's Sandeshkhali area accuse a TMC leader of sexual abuse, assault and intimidation.
