Arkansas Gov. Bans Woke Gender-Neutral Terms, Requires Women and Girls

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed an executive order banning “woke” words like “pregnant people” and requiring terms like “pregnant women.”

Banned terms include "chestfeeding," "birthing person," and "menstruating person," requiring terms like "breastfeeding" and "birth mom."

Sanders said the order is meant to stop “erasing women and girls” and “denying biological differences.”

LGBTQ+ advocates criticized the order as divisive and an attempt to erase marginalized groups.

This follows Sanders' bans on "Latinx" and critical race theory on her first day in office.
