Missing Bolts Blamed After Blowout on Alaska Airlines Flight Injures Passengers
-
A seatbelt saved passenger Cuong Tran, who was seated near the door that blew out on an Alaska Airlines flight in January. His body lifted up and his leg was injured.
-
Tran and 6 other passengers filed a lawsuit against Boeing, Alaska Airlines, and Spirit AeroSystems over the incident which caused them physical and psychological trauma.
-
The blowout caused "rapid decompression" that sucked items out of the plane. Oxygen masks dropped down.
-
The plane made an emergency landing back in Portland. No one was seriously injured.
-
An investigation found missing bolts on the door plug. The FAA grounded Boeing 737 Max planes and there is now increased oversight and a criminal investigation.
