Over 300 Uttar Pradesh legislators traveled by bus from Lucknow to the new Ayodhya Ram Mandir, an event organized by the state government.

Flower petals were showered on the buses and cars bringing the legislators. Some people even stood atop bulldozers to shower flowers.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flew in separately to join the MLAs. The darshan took about 90 minutes.

The planned trip comes a day after Parliament passed a resolution praising the January 22 consecration of the temple.

The opposition Samajwadi Party skipped the event, which BJP leaders criticized as minority appeasement. Other opposition parties like BSP and Congress did attend.
