Ukraine Aid Bill Stalled in Senate Over Disputes on Border Security Policy
-
Senate Republicans blocked a vote on a bill that includes billions in Ukraine aid over disputes on border security policy. The bill also includes aid for Israel and border funding.
-
President Biden warned that failure to pass the aid would hand Putin a victory and embolden him to invade more of Europe. He said European allies are committed to supporting Ukraine but that could change if the U.S. backs out.
-
The White House warns it will run out of Ukraine aid funding by end of year without the supplemental bill. Pentagon says there is less than $1 billion left to replace weapons sent to Ukraine.
-
Republican lawmakers, especially in the House, have grown increasingly opposed to continued Ukraine aid packages the longer the war drags on. Public support for aid has also declined.

Biden said he's willing to compromise more on border security to get the Ukraine aid passed, but accused Republicans of refusing bipartisan negotiation and trying to "kneecap" Ukraine.
