Republicans Urge Biden to Refreeze $6 Billion in Unfrozen Iranian Funds, Citing Terrorism Concerns

A group of Senate Republicans led by Sen. Marsha Blackburn are calling on Biden to refreeze $6B in Iranian funds recently unfrozen.

The Republicans argue the funds could be used to support terrorism despite intended for humanitarian purposes.

Biden recently thanked Qatar's emir for mediating the deal to unfreeze assets and free American prisoners.

Blinken said no unfrozen money has been spent yet and will be closely regulated by Treasury.

Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy also called on Biden to refreeze the assets as part of a plan responding to conflict in Israel.
