Beloved New Jersey 'Fairy Trail' Lives on with New Keepers
-
Therese Ojibway created a "fairy trail" in the woods using natural materials for her autistic son. It grew into an enchanted forest with over 80 fairy houses.
-
The fairy trail became a popular destination at South Mountain Reservation in New Jersey, cared for by volunteers.
-
When Ojibway moved away in 2022, two women took over as "Fairy Trail Keepers" to maintain the houses.
-
The houses nourish children's imaginations; city kids come to explore nature through fantasy and fairy tales.
-
Ojibway will return this summer and "imagines some houses have gone back to nature." Volunteers will replace old fairy houses with new ones.
