Shimano Recalls Millions of Bike Crankarms Over Breakage Concerns
-
Shimano has issued a global recall for around 2.8 million 11-speed Ultegra, Dura-Ace, and Dura-Ace powermeter crankarms due to a risk of breakage along the bond line.
-
Affected cranks have manufacturing codes KF through RF. 105 cranks are not affected.
-
Riders should stop using affected cranks immediately and take them to a dealer for inspection and potential replacement with 12-speed arms.
-
The failure rate is estimated to be less than 1%. The recall comes after reported failures since 2018.
-
The recall could impact Shimano's position in the drivetrain market versus SRAM, and potentially cause delays for new bike orders.
