Sony Announces Slimmer PS5 Model Releasing This Holiday Starting at $449.99

Sony has announced a slimmer PS5 model releasing this holiday season with 1TB SSD storage, reduced size/weight, and option to add disc drive.

The PS5 Slim Digital Edition has gone up $50 in price from the original model, now costing $449.99. The disc drive PS5 Slim costs $499.99.

The slim PS5 aims to maintain sales momentum and improve margins with reduced shipping costs from less size/weight.

PS5 Slim will gradually replace original models as stock sells through. Larger share expected for Digital Edition, driving more digital game sales.

Sony has promotions to maintain PS5 demand before Slim launch. Bundles with EA Sports FC may come to Slim.
