Speaker Johnson Rapidly Releasing Jan. 6 Tapes, Vows Transparency
-
Speaker Johnson said 13,000 of the 40,000 hours of Jan. 6 tapes have been released so far. This amounts to about 5 years worth of video.
-
Johnson wants to release all the tapes publicly as soon as possible. Originally some faces were blurred, but most is already public.
-
New staff was hired to support the 24-hour tape upload and release operation.
-
The tapes are being released in large batches as fast as possible as it takes time to process and upload such a large amount of video.
-
Johnson announced the tape release shortly after becoming Speaker, overturning former Speaker McCarthy's decision to tightly restrict access.
