Saber Interactive, Developer of KOTOR Remake, Sold by Embracer Group for $500 Million
-
Saber Interactive, known for Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake, has been sold by Embracer Group to a private investor group for $500 million.
-
The sale includes studios like 4A Games and Zen Studios, but not all studios acquired by Saber such as Tripwire and Aspyr.
-
Aspyr was originally working on the KOTOR remake before it was transferred to one of Saber's European studios in 2022.
-
Saber gets to take the KOTOR remake project with it in the sale even though Embracer will retain some publishing rights.
-
This comes amid mass layoffs at Embracer studios and cancellation of nearly 30 games in the last 6 months.
