Tensions Rise Over Possible N. Ireland Power-Sharing Deal
-
Posters saying "stop DUP sellout" appeared across Northern Ireland, with one outside MP Jeffrey Donaldson's office. The DUP accused the TUV of being behind them.
-
The posters come amid speculation the DUP is close to a deal to restore power-sharing government in exchange for £2.5 billion in funding from the UK government.
-
DUP deputy leader Gavin Robinson said the posters were designed to "attack and smear" the DUP. The TUV said it has a role to "apply the brakes on any sell-out".
-
DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson said in an email more work is needed and he won't be distracted by "calendar-led initiatives". But pressure is growing to restore the executive before Christmas.
-
Other parties like Sinn Féin, Alliance and the UUP said the DUP should not waste the opportunity to restore the executive and show leadership.
