New Handheld Gaming Device to Bridge Crypto and Traditional Gaming
• Gaming startup Playtron and blockchain company Mysten Labs revealed a new handheld gaming device called the SuiPlay0x1 that is designed to run PC, crypto, and blockchain games. It is expected to launch in 2025.
• The device will have deep integration with the Sui blockchain, allowing users to easily access Sui assets. It will also let users pay for traditional games with their Sui wallet.
• Playtron OS will accommodate crypto games built on various blockchains, unlike Steam which doesn't allow blockchain games currently. The devices aim to "build an operating system that lets people play absolutely everything."
• There are plans to subsidize the cost of the SuiPlay0x1 and offer token incentives to drive adoption, similar to the Solana Saga smartphone.
• The handheld could potentially onboard new users into crypto by removing friction and providing exclusive rewards for Sui ecosystem participation.
