Synaptics Launches Astra, an AI Platform for Edge Devices

Synaptics launched a new AI platform called Astra for edge computing applications like IoT devices. It includes accelerated hardware, software tools, wireless connectivity, and an AI framework.

Astra offers three SoC chip options (SL1610, SL1620, SL1680) with different levels of AI acceleration for various use cases. More chips are planned.

It has a complete open source software stack including Linux, SDKs, and the Synaptics Neural Network Acceleration and Processing (SyNAP) toolkit.

The platform supports industry standard AI models like TensorFlow Lite and ONNX, optimizing them for the target hardware.

Astra builds on Synaptics' experience with AI, sensors, wireless connectivity, and partnerships to offer a mature edge AI solution.
