Tesla is recalling nearly 55,000 Model X vehicles from 2021-2023 due to a brake fluid detection issue.

The vehicles may fail to detect low brake fluid levels, not displaying a warning light.

This could reduce braking performance and increase crash risk, according to the NHTSA.

Tesla will provide an over-the-air software update to affected vehicles for free.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on December 12, 2023. The NHTSA recall number is SB-23-00-005.
