Chinese Investment in Thailand Surges in 2023, Boosting New PM

Chinese investment in Thailand has picked up in 2023 despite China's economic slowdown, benefitting Thailand's new PM.

From Jan-Aug 2023, Thailand received $10.1B in foreign investment, led by Chinese firms committing $2.7B.

Investments from Singapore were also largely from Chinese firms.

Net FDI from China in the first half of 2023 was up 56% to $0.7B.

Investments come as China's economy slows, boosting Thailand's growth forecasts under the new PM.
