Alibaba Unveils ChatGPT Rival and Hundreds of AI Models to Compete in China's Tech Race

Alibaba has developed its own ChatGPT rival called Tongyi Qianwen and launched it across various products like smart speakers and workplace apps.

It created an image generation model, Tongyi Wanxiang, using diffusion technology similar to Stable Diffusion.

Alibaba launched Modelscope, a platform providing access to hundreds of pre-trained generative models through its cloud platform.

The company open-sourced its main language model Tongyi Qianwen to comply with China's AI regulations and enable improvements by developers.

Alibaba aims to become more customer-centric and AI-driven, competing in what's been called a "War of a Hundred Models" among Chinese tech giants.
