Disney Board Weighs Top Executives to Eventually Succeed CEO Iger

Four top Disney executives are seen as potential successors to CEO Bob Iger Dana Walden (TV boss), Alan Bergman (movie studios chief), Josh D'Amaro (parks/consumer products head), and Jimmy Pitaro (ESPN leader).

The Disney board is searching both internally and externally for Iger's eventual replacement. Whoever is chosen must be able to run Disney's sprawling $220 billion media and entertainment empire.

Each of the four internal candidates brings certain strengths but also has weaknesses, whether lack of studio experience (Walden, D’Amaro) or lack of charisma (Bergman).

Iger previously chose Bob Chapek as his successor, but that turned out poorly, so the board is under pressure to make the right pick this time.

Walden and Pitaro may be most similar to Iger given their TV and sports backgrounds before rising in the Disney ranks.
