Toyota's New Land Cruiser Trades Uniqueness for MPGs
-
The new Land Cruiser shares its platform with other Toyota trucks like the 4Runner and Tacoma, making it less unique than previous generations. However, it has better fuel economy and still offers good off-road capability.
-
The base "1958" trim has hard, cheap-feeling plastics inside and lacks features like a front camera. Higher trims have much nicer interiors.
-
Off-road, the new Land Cruiser is good but not amazing due to limited ground clearance and departure angle. The four-wheel drive system works well overall.
-
On-road driving impressions were limited but it seems quiet and smooth enough, with the hybrid powertrain providing decent acceleration. Fuel economy is vastly improved.
-
While less special than before, the new Land Cruiser is still a compelling luxury off-roader with lots of space, quality materials in higher trims, and improved MPG over its predecessor.
