Movement Targeting Diversity Consultancy Echoes Gamergate Harassment

A group calling itself "Sweet Baby Inc Detected" (SBID) has emerged, targeting the narrative consultancy Sweet Baby Inc and the diversity and inclusion efforts it supports in video game development.

SBID echoes the Gamergate movement from 2014, using "wokeism" as a cover for misogynistic, racist, and harassing behavior toward women, people of color, and journalists in gaming.

In reality, Sweet Baby consults with studios to help them achieve their own creative goals for diversity; it does not coerce changes. Claims to the contrary misunderstand game development.

The reactionary anger driving SBID stems from some gamers feeling left behind by gaming's move toward inclusivity of women, people of color, and queer identities.

While concerning, SBID seems to be fizzling out already as studios reaffirm their support for Sweet Baby and diversity in gaming continues apace.
